Illinois – the Journey is Underway…

Starting from the sign downtown, we headed out and discovered Illinois had the most beautiful sections of Route 66 we found. The old houses, shops, restaurants, and best of all countless miles of original surface Route 66 roads were fascinating. The 1967 Corvette felt more alive on the winding country road than I had ever experienced.  It ran great and felt at home here. It was the first time I’d ever driven it in the rain and I know it forgave me for doing so.

We found some of the old highway from  the original 1926 routing. The surface had not been paved since the 40s or 50s and in rough shape. It made for some amazing photographs  showing the reflections of the past; the rain helped the effect…
