This Week at FantomWorks is a short post that we have started to give a little insight on the ongoing projects that the shop is currently working on. Since many can’t make it to the shop for every weekly tour we decided to bring a little bit of the shop to everyone. Hope you enjoy…
Hope you enjoyed the brief update on just some of the numerous project currently in the shop.
Hi I appreciate your correspondence I was a mechanic throughout 70s and 80s due to ill health I had to retire. But love watching your programs and brings memories of my work in uk.Please keep up good work 👏 and making me happy.
Greetings from Canada where most of us have our cars stored for the upcoming winter. What a relief; I have long hoped Fantom Works had not fallen victim to COVID, Miss the show ! Keep up the fantastic work !
Great show, I hope you guys are up and running soon!
Thanks for the update. Miss not having new shows but still watch in reruns for some we have missed.
Your workmanship is amazing. Truly miss the program!
me too
Thanks for the goodies, love your shop.
Great to see the cars you are working on. Happy you’re busy and doing well in these crazy times. I catch reruns of show as often as I can. Wish you were still making new ones. Look forward to the next update. Thanks so much.
FantomWorks is the “gold standard” for car shows. I never miss an episode. Perhaps in the future you can surface new episodes. 🏆
Thanks for the goodies, love your shop.
That last photo isn’t a ’72 LeMans.
Are the Friday tours back On? I have postponed a trip to the area twice now waiting for a time that the tours will be operational again.
You are correct it is a 66 Lemans, thank you for proofreading and I have made the change.
Hello; I’ve been a bodyman since the 60’s , I started with corvettes and then into luxury cars in the 90’s now I do it to stay busy. Thank You for showing your audience what quality work is supposed to look like, and thank you so much for your service.
Thoroughly enjoy your show. Your interaction with customers and your workmanship is outstanding. Waiting for the next episode.
Thanks for staying in touch. Sure miss the show, but understand;( Happy Thanksgiving to Dan and the rest!!!
Dan, Have been a follower of Fantomworks from season one to the end of filming the program. So we’ll done and so very real. Most people have no idea the amount of working hours needed to do quality restoration. Deconstruction through reconstruction is labor intensive and add in often no parts availability now you’re creating parts to finish a restoration. I live in Sacramento but will hopefully visit Norfolk in the near future and seeing your shop will be a absolute priority. Thanks for your expertise and honesty.
Always great to see updates! Glad to see folks are keeping the classics roadworthy and restored! Whatever happened to the Stearman???
It is still hear waiting on final approval to insure it is flight worthy. Will try to include it in the next update.
Thanks for the update on the Sterman. BTW, under proofreading, I think you meant to use the word “Here” to indicate were it is located rather than the “hear” as in sound. Please relay to Dan and his wife our thanks for their service to this great Country
And you Kerry, used the word “were” when you should have used “where” . Many people noticed the “hear”, but chose to let it go. You tried to correct the web developer and made exactly the same mistake.
Next time just keep on reading the comments!!!
So glad to hear that the Stearman has been rebuilt! …still hoping that you’ve guys made a -private- video of the work done on the bi-plane and upload that somewhere on the Internet.
P.S.: a photoshoot will also do. 🙂
I can’t be the only woman that loves to watch Dan’s show and see all the amazing builds they do, right? Can’t wait to see some new shows if/when we ever get back to normal. Thank you to all the Vets and current service folks for defending our beautiful country and keeping us safe.
Happy Thanksgiving & Merry Christmas all!
Hi! You’re not the only woman! This woman over here loves this show! Looking forward to touring the shop one day!
Thanks for the update… sure miss the TV program – #1 in my book!
Thanks for the update,
Keep the updates coming
I’m amazed by the size of your workshop the TV show didn’t give the viewer any idea of dimensions and projects.
Really pleased to hear your are keeping busy
Thanks for the update. Know you’re busy and really appreciate the news and photos.
hi Dan, it is nice to see you are still going. I do enjoy the pictures you have been putting on your web page.
keep up with the great work, you and your staff are doing.
love the stuff you do. keep up the good work
The picture on page 10 is a Corvette and not a ’69 Camaro as described. 😉
Thank you for the proofreading and I have made the change.
Look forward to the updates. Still miss the show, the craftsman, and the great cars. Never missed a show, I bet I have seen some of the shows 6 or 7 times, maybe more. They never get old. Best of luck with the business and on this Veterans Day, thank you for your service to this great country!
Thanks for the veterans shout out (of course Dan would) 😎 Enjoy the updates and it’s looking a lot like a vette shop over there 🤣 (I have two). Beautiful work as always. Wishing all the best to the team and the Short family. Happy holidays and Merry Christmas if we don’t here from you before then.
All the best,
Gene
Great to hear from you, thanks for the update, keep up the good work! You are still the best car show on TV. Even though they may be re-runs! I know if ever I need a restoration you are the best to go to, even from the UK 🇬🇧! Take care and hopefully see you on tv soon. Regards, Richard.
Greatly enjoy your programs being repeated on freesat over here in the UK.
Hope one day to come over to VA and drop into to see you all.
Best wishes
Charles
Great to hear from you again…keep up the work and the courage…we always look forward to hearing from you…
Great to hear from you again. Hope you and yours are well . A Viet Vet says thanks for your service to this country.
Are you guys doing in person shop tours now?
No we are currently not holding in-person shop tours.
Very nice job on ’72 Charger, and every thing else in this update! Thanks!
Enjoy your shows. Love the cars. My baby Is a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire convertible. I hope you’re back on TV again one day.
Thanks to you Dan and your excellent crew as well. I have more than enjoyed all of your episodes on the now Motor Trend network. What’s not to like with excellent craftmanship and desire to be the best. The 7 P’s has a place everywhere in our workplace.

Thanks for resuming the shop updates. You know, I’ve probably seen every TV episode a dozen times, but whenever it comes on, I watch again. The cars and the people made it a great show!
It would be nice for you to publish an updated picture book of your people and what they do. I wonder how many are still there… Something to think about anyway.
My daily driver is a ’67 Mercury Monterey 4-dr sedan (390, 2v). It will never be a restoration candidate. I have 2-3X its value just bringing it back to a safe, reliable daily driver. It’s a fun car, and that’s what’s important.
Glad to hear from you, hope all works out for you, and do miss seeing you
Thanks Dan. From a person with no mechanical talents whatsoever your show filled my evenings with entertainment and learning. I was able to see a number of cars from my youth and rehash those memories. The best part was always you and your people for sure, but the commitment to excellence you adhered to was to be commended.
That 69 Lincoln, burgundy with tan top I have seen in the background of several episodes.
Was there a show that showed you working on it?
Would love to know if it was for sale and how much!
This was always a great show, and remains my favorite build show. I know why you left and I understand. You still do great work. I think one of my favorite things is that it looks like a real working shop and not a TV set like some shows. Keep up the great work, and thank you for your service.
Awesome exterior shot on the ’69 Olds 442 is it for sale?
Thank you.
Thanks for the update. Glad to hear from the crew . Please keep in touch. Dan, from one Vet to another Slow right hand salute to you. Thanks, Perry
Dan, I have been trying to buy shirts/sweatrshirts for months but you seem to be out every time I try. It’s free advertising for you as I would buy them as gifts for my 5 brothers and sister. You stock em and I’ll buy em!!!!!!!!
Thank You Dan and your people in the shop. I miss having new episodes on tv but I understand why. I used to live only a couple of miles from your shop on Trant Circle. I know if I get to a point to get a restoration, your shop is where I will go. Thank you for your show and the work you and your people do- Happy veteran’s day to you and your folks in the shop.I was Coast Guard in ’72-’76 at Little Creek(Cherokee Wmec165@pier 19 north)Everybody take care and be safe!
best car repair and restoration show on TV. Watch show whether rerun or new .
This is my first update since joining the newsletter. I’ve watched all the shows which really inspires me to do things right instead of “Johnny Salami “ tactics that some people use. Keep up the great craftsmanship to keep the classics running.
Hi,thanks for the update.That Torino is a 74-76 not a 72.Looks nice.
You are correct it is a 76. Thank you for the proofreading.
Other shows on Velocity channel/ now MT are not even close to the realism FW provided. Miss the show … miss real mechanics who fixed stuff – not merely parts replacers.
Really enjoy the updates. It’s amazing to see how many people want to keep their old vehicles running and in good condition. Say Hi to Dan from Las Vegas and keep up the good work.
Thanks for the update miss the show one day I will bring my 79 Firebird for you to fix up I bought it new in 79 I was 21
Thanks for the update One day I will bring my 79 Firebird I bought it new in 79 I was 21 Thanks Arnold
Really miss the program! Your workmanship is amazing. Thank you for restarting shop updates.
Thank you for the update. I enjoy it.
Thank you for the updates , still watch all the old episodes !! love them , and THANK YOU DAN and all your other Employees that served and helped protect all of us and our Amazing Country !!!! God Bless You All
Hi Dan, family and crew, Thanks for the update. As long as we know they are still coming makes us happy. A Happy Holidays to all!
Great Shows – I hope they return. so many car shows are out there but yours was always about the quality of work, the honesty, the costs and the interesting clients you had. I have one question about the 65/66 Fords parked along the walls in your shop. The second new car my father bought was a 1966 Ford LTD with a 390 Police Interceptor Engine. 4 barrel, Automatic. If my memory still works. I inherited that car years later and it was a dream. So are those yours? They always seem to be in the background, neither leaving or getting worked on..
Loved you show – good luck in your endeavors.
The Galaxies are all here for storage for a customer.
Yes Dan miss you having new shows try to watch every one of the reruns the great Patriot and your motto is fantastic cars country and cars thanks for everything that I’ve seen
Thank you! Hang in there and don’t stop giving us news
I truly miss the show, still watching the re runs though. Greatest of care and American workmanship! Dan, you and your mechanics, paint and body guys, interior and all the finish work are remarkable to say the least. Maybe one day I will find myself lucky enough to have you restore one of my Boattail Rivieras!!
Happy Thanksgiving to the Fantomworks team !!
Thanks for resuming the shop updates. I built engines for years. My health forced me to retire. I am waiting for the tours to resume. Tell Dan and his wife thank you for their service.

thanks for the update ceep them comming
Hi we miss your show in the Uk. As a classic car fan your show was so real as home restorers will know which is why it was so good. I wonder if you ever get time in your busy day if you could do a small pod cast. Thanks for staying in touch with your fans across the pond good luck in the future wishing you and the team a Happy Xmas .
Thank you Dan for your service to our great country.
I appreciate the hard work necessary to get the cars up to your standards.
Thanks for the update, Dan! Your shop always does magnificent work – I especially love the ’69 Firebird convertible in this update – I had one of those myself, back in the day! I’m hoping to make a trip down to Norfolk with my son this coming summer – my father-in-law was a gunner’s mate on the Wisconsin, so my son and I want to make it a two-fer – a tour of his granddad’s wartime duty, and a tour of the best auto shop in the world!!
Great work on what is shown on the show and in pictures. This shop needs a manager for the love of god. There’s so much unfinished stuff sitting, omg. And a mess to boot. Stop bringing in little jobs to provide money for the long term jobs that take so long. Bite the bullet and use in house funds to finish everything in the shop, and catch up. This is typical mis management from the owner or shop manager. I can tell on the show, everything is a time crunch, and stress level is crazy. I worked at a high end shop the owner did the same thing. If the show ever was to return, definitely need a fresh new production, the shows production was horrible, and the lighting was the worst of any tv show I’ve ever seen. Anyways, good luck.
Always Happy Days…..
Thanks enjoy your updates
Really enjoyed the TV program. Sorry it is no more. I learned a lot from watching.
Hope All is Well ! Miss your show ! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and yours !
Thanks for updates, best of luck to you and yours
Thanks for the updates… Loved the show and miss it like all the car enthusiasts.. I appreciate your artistry, excellent work and attention to detail… I have a nice 1980 Corvette L-82; someday i hope to bring it to you to takenitbto the next level… all the Best! Happy Thanksgiving. James B
Keep watching reruns of the show and it never gets too old. Shame that you left but I understand the reasoning. Hope the shop isn’t having employee issues. Seems like people are quitting right and left everywhere so they can live on a socialist agenda of the current administration. My local shop has been looking for a year and can’t find a single decent employee.
What will be Will ,wish all things would never change but we do with whatever life gives us to handle sometimes good sometimes bad , But we go on for its life and we make of what can .. You and yours suckitin and make life good , for you are good people and missed ,maybe but not forgotten.
Thanks Dan and staff for years of great shows. Am a vette lover and you do them well. Any chance you will be back with new shows ??? 🙏🏻🙏🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸
Awesome picture of the 69 Firebird, I had one just like it with 400 Pontiac engine, automatic trans, wood grain dash, white convertible roof and interior. The color was also blue. This picture brought back so many great memories to me, thanks for posting.
The updates of your shop mean so much to the actual true car guys that follow you, please continue posting when you can.
All the best to you and your crew!
Hi Dan, I really miss the show. You do great work…. God Bless
I am SO glad to see you back on the air again! I just saw the reworked Camaro that Dan gave to his wife, Melissa. It was a beautifully done restoration! i wish I could get back to see your operation, but it’s just a bit too far from the Desert Southwest of Yuma, AZ.
Dan, you are an amazing businessman and I really enjoy your show! Thank you!!
What a great shop – and a great show! Really miss the show but happy to know the good work continues! Would love to tour the shop someday if you ever open it up for tours again.
It is a great pleasure to receive information from this excellent garage. If possible they can always send it. Congratulations to everyone including the dog.
Just watched the ’39 Hudson show. Really enjoy your program. Thanks for the entertainment and allowing us to pick up bits of information. Respectfully,
Hello: Thank you for the shout out, i really was glad to hear from you, i love the show and feel so bad when you see what people
will sell for your projects. Keep up the great works. I really enjoyed the restoration on the 1926 style car of yesteryear. The storylines have a very good personal touch which we need today, especially after such a really difficult year for the human race.
So good to see your website on my computer. Its been a long time but am glad that all is well. By far my favorite show on Velocity/MT was yours, never missed one.
Now, for something I’ve always thought about, with all those people leaving your shop in their as-new cars, have wondered what has become of them. Would love to see a show on where they are now (hope this is not redundant).
Hi guys
I have seen a Citroen in the background, and also a Ford Falcon (the Falcon was in the middle stages of restoration). Those 2 were built in Argentina under French and American licenses. The Falcon was built from 1964 to 1997 if I remember correctly, with some minor changes, but the same basic structure. It was the most popular car for many years, and was the car that police cruisers were made of and the cars that the army used for whatever they did
Do you still have any of the two, and if so, are they for sale??? I was thinking of bringing one of them from Argentina (where I grew up), but the transportation is very expensive now and spare parts are probably not exactly the same.
I am sorry there was an interruption of the new episodes of what I think is the best show on restoring and improving classic cars.
Plus Dan’s facial expression when something goes wrong or the customers change their minds is priceless (I have laughed a lot many times at it). He is also a very smart man.
Thank you very much for your time and hope to hear back from you!!!
What IS the basket case in the upper storage rack, next to the 63 Falcon?
To Dan & the Guys, I love watching your show!
It never gets old. I can watch them over & over again. It brings back great memories of the 70’s working on cars with my friends. We tried everything, from body work, to painting vehicles, to rebuilding engines, and then just everyday repairs! Your shop is the ultimate shop where car rebuilding is tops from start to finish! You never cut corners and you always believe the customers satisfaction is the most important part of your rebuilds. Good Luck Dan, to you & All the great Guys that you have working for you! A dedicated shop for sure. I hope to come and see your shop someday and can’t wait for that day to come soon! Matt
Dan, I sure do miss the show. However, I have my dvr setup to record all the reruns. hell, when you’re jonesin’, reruns will do ;}>
BTW, I flew two tours Vietnam as a Scout/Crewchief. Both tours with and Air Cavalry Troop. I was the only Scout CE that could go from startup to backing out of my reventment to taxiing, hovering autos etc.
I had all the recommendations to get into flt sch after my tour ended. But as soon as I got back to the world I got rifted out,( reduction in forces program) . They had all the pilots they needed. Shit happens and we move on.
Just as well, come to find out injuries from my first tour had me kinda disabled, and so it’s been like that ever since.
How are you doing on the Stearman? Or the 23 Raven? Anyways, best of luck to you and all that work at Fantom works. Did I mention I still miss the show ;}>
