Today’s Fan Car Friday is brought to us by Earl and his 1934 Ford 3-Window Coupe. Fan Car Friday is a segment where we want to share with the world the automobiles that our fans have. We have absolutely no affiliation/relationship with the cars, the build or the owners. This post was made with written consent from the owner.
Earl fell in love with the Coupe when he was 8 years old, and has loved it for the last 83 years! When he was a kid he remembers not having much in his life, but he does remember the car his neighbor purchased. When everyone in his block was struggling to get their cars to continue to go, in came a shiny new 1934 Coupe. Earl remembers waiting outside all hours of the day just to see it drive by and, if he was lucky, the owner would honk as he drove by.
It wasn’t until many years later that Earl could purchase one and call it his own. In the 50s when everyone he knew wanted to purchase a Corvette, a Hudson or an Imperial, he finally purchased that 1934 coupe. Something he drove for the next 40 years for fun on the weekends. It was a car he adored until a reckless driver in a Dodge Viper came around a corner, lost control and T-Boned the Coupe.
Earl decided the only thing to do at that point was to build a new ’34 Coupe, but this time he would do something other than the look of the stock one he knew so well. He knew at his age he said “I’ll be finished before the car is”, so he had someone else build this beauty.
What they came up with was the vehicle we see today. A ’34 3 Window coupe. This one has all original sheetmetal from the body to the doors, fenders to the grill and just about everywhere else you can look. They then coupled it with a GM ZZ430 Crate 350 and a TH350 transmission.
Then they added a new, coated chassis with IFS and IRS with some added amenities like power steering and 4 wheel power disc brakes. After, a new A/C system and heater were added along with a tilt column to make it easier for Earl to get in and out of the vehicle.
While it may not be the same exact car he had all those years ago, its still his car and something he thoroughly enjoys driving. Earl says his favorite thing about the car is seeing a young boy look at his car with the same amazement the looked at his neighbors so many years ago.
Very Cool! Earl that is a stellar looking car! Keep on cruisin.
