Frankly, I wasn’t expecting to see much in New Mexico but I couldn’t have been more wrong. The land was enchanting and when you enter the small town of Tucumcari, you’ll swear you’ve stepped back into the 1950s.

We found some of the original pavement from  the original 1926 routing. The surface was apparently from the 40s and 50s and in rough shape. It made for some amazing photographs  as seen on the bottom right; the rain helped the effect…
