“I have had the car since 1981. Had original surf green and India ivory color scheme when I bought it. Came with a 350, th350 transmission and a tuck and roll interior. I had it painted this color in the 80’s and recently updated the interior, keeping the tuck and roll theme. Over the years I have added the outside visor, continental kit, fender skirts, dual rear antennas, power steering, power brakes with discs on front and a 700r4 transmission.
The reason I bought my 57 was when I was 15 yrs old a friend let me drive his 1957 Chevy wagon and I thought one day I would like a 1957 of my own. A few years later I bought a 1957 2-door sedan that needed a lot of work. Low and behold a few more years passed and another friend had began importing classic cars and had a 1957 2 door hardtop. I took it for a drive and had to have it, so we made a deal and it became my car. I then sold my first 57 and began enjoying this one ever since. It came in original green and white but around 1984 I had it painted the GM blue it has to this day.
Things I have added include fender skirts, outside visor, dual rear antennas, redone interior, power windows and a 700r4 transmission. Future plans are a possible 5.3 and 4l60e transmission swap, but that is up in the air right now.
I have been asked 4 or 5 times by couple’s getting married if I would be part if their ceremony and drive them to the church and for pictures.”
The 1957 Chevrolet is a car which was introduced by Chevrolet in September 1956 for the 1957 model year. It was available in three series models: the upscale Bel Air, the mid-range Two-Ten, and the One-Fifty. A two-door station wagon, the Nomad, was produced as a Bel Air model. An upscale trim option called the Delray was available for Two-Ten 2-door sedans. It is simply the best Bel Air out of the Tri-Five also. These vehicles are often restored to their original condition and sometimes modified. The car’s image has been frequently used in toys, graphics, music, movies, and television. The ’57 Chevy, as it is often known, is an auto icon.

My first car was a ’55 Bel Aire 2 door hardtop. 235 6cylinder with “3 on the tree” .
I rebuilt it to new, original condition and put over 100 k on it …. loved that car and wish I still had it. Sadly was T boned and totalled in 1970.

NICE 57 NO POST I LEARNED HOW TO DRIVE IN A 1957 BEL AIR 3 SPEED OFF TREE,I WAS 15 YEARS OLD MAYBE 14 EVERYONE HAS THERE OWN TASTE I WOULD NEVER PUT THAT continental kit ON. TO EACH HIS OWN.
Doug, you have a great looking 57 Chevy Bel Air! My uncle had one of these brand new, red with a white top and the first one I remember seeing for the first time. Always thought this was the most beautiful Chevy from the 50’s. Thanks for sharing your photos!
